From some fairly inauspicious roots, Dealey has been developing gradually into the industry leading company that it is today.
Dealey Group was founded in 1956 by the great Dr Dealey. He began with resources including a wire-haired terrier, a beaten up Rolls Royce and an enormous knowledge of insects. He left ICI with two doctorates and an enthusiasm for farming. At the time farmers were just beginning to store grain in bulk and insect infestation became a real problem. Dr Dealey found his niche somewhere between his joint passions, farming and insects, and we have carried on in this vein ever since.
In 1989 Dr Dealey sold his business to Henry Cobbald, who came from farming stock and was an expert in grain. The name Dealey was retained because it was, as it is today, synonymous with insects.
The reins of the business were handed over in 2009 to Henry’s son, Martin Cobbald BA (Hons) Ebor MRES MBPR G.E.E.K.
Acquisition of Cambridge based Step Pest Control Ltd added pest control to the Dealey portfolio of services from 2015 onwards. Falconry services followed in 2018 and several falconry enthusiasts quickly flocked to the Dealey banner.
The last 5 years have seen two further business acquisitions and the grant of an exclusive licence to use a revolutionary structural fumigant.
With Martin at the helm, Dealey continues to grow and specialise whilst always continuing in the image of its founder; technical, expert and eccentric!
We are all about prevention and deterrence. Our holistic approach often allows us to prevent problems from reoccurring.
Uniquely we see success as moving from extermination to monitoring, reducing the number of times you need to see your dedicated controller.
Managing Director Martin Cobbald has led the Fumigation and Controlled Environments Committee for five years and we have a regular nationwide presence for fumigation consultancy.
We have a dream team for fumigation and we truly believe we have the brightest minds in the industry diligently honing their skills here. We believe in constantly learning and improving, and being the best we can be.
With a fleet of sixteen highly equipped vehicles, the service portfolio has grown from its origins in commodity care to include fumigation, pest control, falconry, instrumentation and artefact preservation
We have created many unique services to control insect populations servicing the UK.
We’ve come a long way from our Bury St Edmunds roots – at least 135 miles, if we’re being precise!
Did you know that we have a dedicated Midlands team here to work with businesses like yours to solve your pest and rodent problems? Our rat-catching experts are on hand to protect commercial premises across the Midlands.
Now, we know that might cause a bit of controversy about whether we’re covering the East or West Midlands, or even Yorkshire – but don’t let that distract you from our true genius! We’re pest control experts, not geographers! Maps don’t interest us as much as rats, mice, moles, flies, moths, bed bugs, rodents, and creepy crawlies do!
Thanks to our extensive experience working across a variety of sectors including the NHS, agriculture and food manufacturing we know exactly what challenges you face. We’ve worked with over 300 clients local to you, and there’s nothing that could shock us – no rodent issue too big, or pest problem too small.
If it matters to you, then it matters to us.
But don’t worry – our lips are sealed; we’ll always retain your confidentiality, so you never have to worry about your customers finding out that you’ve needed to use our services. We’re the quiet superheroes in the background, ready to swoop in whenever you need us.
Without any further ado, let’s introduce you to our pest control experts in the Midlands.
Angie may have only worked with us since 2021, but she’s got over twenty years of experience working with pest control. Angie’s specialism is stores pest control, particularly focusing on insects like flies, roaches, beetles and moths. She’s our fumigation queen – she’s so famous that she even featured on Pest Detectives! She claims she was given all the worst jobs, but we’ll have to take her word for it!
While Angie might be the boss of our Midlands team, she does have an adorable assistant in the shape of her terrier, Alan. He’s a fabulous pest controller as well – and as he’s content to be paid in the form of a Schmako or two, we’re more than happy to keep him on the team.
Bob is part detective, part exterminator, and full-time pest whisperer. Thanks to his background in ground maintenance, Bob knows exactly where to go to search for those little critters. Like Angie, Bob has spent over 20 years in the business, and there’s nothing he doesn’t know about bug-busting. Our clients love him because they know he’s the man to talk to if you’ve got a problem that you don’t know how to solve – he’s got a solution for everything! He says he can think on his feet to solve issues – perhaps we should invest in a standing desk for him to help him think more!
Bob is often accompanied by his terrier Conker – like Alan, Conker is happy to be paid in snacks and belly rubs. (Side note – both our HR and our finance teams are adamant that we can’t extend this to the rest of our team, which seems mean.)
Pete is the pits.
No, really, he is.
He used to work in the pits before retraining as a pest controller. Pete is based in Nottingham and loves being able to work directly with customers to solve their pest control problems. He’s extremely adaptable and customer-focused – often chatting in great detail with customers about the ant-swer to their bug control issues.
Pete’s partner in crime is his terrier Riggs – what is it about pest controllers and terriers?!
While Angie might be the boss of our Midlands team, she does have an adorable assistant in the shape of her terrier, Alan. He’s a fabulous pest controller as well – and as he’s content to be paid in the form of a Schmako or two, we’re more than happy to keep him on the team.
Tez is the newbie to the team.
He was made redundant from his supermarket job before retraining as a pest controller.
That’s a mad career change for anyone – but unsurprisingly, Tez’s background is invaluable to us (particularly Angie, working in store pest control). He’s worked hard to achieve his advanced qualification in pest control (a Level 3 Certified Advanced Technician in Pest Management, if we’re getting completely technical), and he offers us a different perspective thanks to his previous job role. He has a cracking eye for detail and has shown us time and time again that he’s got a real hunger for catching rats, mice and other rodents. A fab addition to the team, and someone we know you’ll love!
So wherever your based, and whatever industry you’re in, if you’ve got a pest problem – big or small – we’re on hand to put our pest geeks to work. Just leave it with us.
